My Opinion on RhodeCode

Overall Opinion: Complex software development can be a challenge to keep organized, especially if code exists across multiple services. RhodeCode is an excellent choice for users who appreciate an open source approach to code management, but a special Enterprise version is available (for a price) for serious customers that need a more comprehensive solution. All versions of RhodeCode provide a unified approach to managing code on Subversion, Git and Mercurial repositories. All repository types can be written to from a single, central point, which is the real beauty of RhodeCode. All forks, commits and changeset merges can be accessed at once, across all repositories. The service comes equipped with RhodeCode Control, which allows administrators to install and upgrade RhodeCode as quickly and as easily as possible. An extensive area of online documentation is available to make management of RhodeCode simple and easy to understand. RhodeCode has a built-in search feature to make finding code snippets much more manageable, especially in large scale coding projects. Results can be found in comments, repositories, files and gists. Access to code can be controlled with the click of a button, toggling between "open-world" access for true open source projects and "organization-open" for code that is meant for viewing by the company only. There's also an "invite-only" access option for super secure code. Password control is also an option. RhodeCode comes standard with a beautiful, graphical changelog to keep track of code updates. Non-code assets, such as videos, images and other file types are supported and will be kept safe and secure, just like the code.

Pros: Basic and free open source version as well as paid enterprise solution Extensive amount of resources are available for this well-documented software

Cons: Might be completely unnecessary for smaller coding projects and indie developers
