Overall Opinion: In this modern age, people are no longer "Apple" or "PC", but are generally hybrids that enjoy the features of many operating systems. As such, it becomes necessary to access files from a Mac machine while using Windows. This is where TransMac comes in handy. TransMac can read files not only from a physically connected hard disk, but also read directly from Mac dmg disk image files. TransMac can create and burn disks directly to optical media. This is an amazing feature, as it can be frustrating to repair a Mac without having an OS install disk on hand. Also included is the ability to mount those same disk images as virtual hard disks. This allows one to access the data directly from the image without burning to a physical disk. Unfortunately, for those who use the Apple File System (APFS) instead of HFS+, the functionality of TransMac is limited to read-only mode. While TransMac is great in the things it can do, it can be lacking in other needed areas. Many times, data recovery is the goal of hooking up a Mac drive to another machine. Unfortunately, TransMac offers no solution for the verification or repair of Mac drives. Ultimately, TransMac does what it is designed to do, and well. The website may be lacking in beauty, but the development of the software is by no means stale. Active development means TransMac could become the ultimate software for reading, writing, and recovering Mac drives.
