Overall Opinion: Mac users have long been asking for a better way to access Facebook from their desktop. Current appears to be the answer. The software was developed by Scott Kyle, a long-time developer for Apple. Kyle's knowledge of the Mac platform helped to make this app integrate beautifully with the Mac desktop. Current creates some useful shortcuts in the menu bar of the Mac. These shortcuts allow users to access their Facebook friend's list, notifications, and inbox. It is possible to customize the notifications that are delivered when using the software in a work environment. Messages can be popped out in their own windows and moved around the desktop. This helps when a user has more than one conversation happening at a time. Those who want to do so can also pop out the photo albums and videos from their Facebook profile. Friend requests can also be seen and managed from the app. The most exciting aspect of the app is that it includes its own Facebook browser. Users can surf Facebook right in the app, and the addition of tabs lets users switch between items on their news feed. Best of all, there is no need to let Facebook take up the entire desktop by opening up a standard browser. Those who want to be more productive and minimize the distractions of Facebook will find this app to be very useful. It will allow them to still feel connected while giving them some much-needed distance.
