Lychee Reviews

by grex about Lychee on March 2, 2018:
Lychee has much to offer in the realm of photo management. It basically allows the user to create a repository of photos on their own web server or website. The comparisons with Flickr are hard to ignore. The difference here is that the user is in complete control of the security and preservation of their photos.

The installation of the software is straightforward and is best accomplished with an FTP program like Filezilla. It only takes about three or four minutes to install the program on your server. The program, once installed, has an elegant interface which is very intuitive. It guides the user through uploading, renaming, and describing photos. Once photos have been uploaded it is possible to search them through the use of tags or descriptions. This is helpful if you have thousands of photos which require management.

Albums can be created and password protected. It is also possible to share the photos with the public. For individual viewing the interface offers a full-screen mode that can be navigated with a single click.

Overall, this is a simple to use program which is somewhat bare bones. It gets the job done but some individuals will probably crave more bells and whistles from their photo management tool.
