Overall Opinion: Using Gitter is certainly an interesting experience. Gitter can be used to grow and connect all sorts of communities, which is very interesting and refreshing. If you are interested in seeking any of those communities out, you can use their easy to use discovery tools and connect with people from distant corners of the earth without a problem. There is no limit to the size of the community that you can grow on Gitter, allowing for unlimited potential. Massive groups and movements could even use Gitter to connect people together. This type of social media is more geared towards groups than individuals, which may be less appealing to an individual, but is still very useful and oftentimes just fun to take advantage of. Businesses using Gitter can take advantage of various features and functions of the site, including its various sharing tools. Overall, I would say that the service that Gitter provides is very useful for those who are trying to get large groups of people together, find large groups of people, and manage movements or organizations remotely
Pros: Gitter is built off of easy to use and find chat rooms that can connect you with all kinds of people across the world. The communities built and strung together on Gitter have no size limits, which allows for large groups to get together on their site. The sharing features of Gitter are very useful for expanding business or getting messages out to large groups of people at once.
Cons: You do not always know who you will be connecting with when using Gitter, and there is potential for bad actors to be present. In general, it is wise to use caution with any sort of chat or messaging service online. There is no guarantee that you will be able to effectively grow your community on Gitter. Sometimes Gitter can be confusing to try to navigate for first time users.
