Overall Opinion: Formerly known as dapulse, Monday.com puts the tools that small and mid-sized businesses need to grow more efficient in their methodology. Team management tools are hardly an unknown variety of software, but Monday.com takes a unique approach to management all centered around a scheduling grid that resembles a spreadsheet and lets managers designate and assign tasks as is appropriate to the situation at hand. Users who have worked with spreadsheets or kanban apps will be familiar with the boards that serve as the central unit of the Monday.com structure. At their most basic level, they resemble color coded spreadsheets, but once you start to lay out a board, you get a feeling for the deceptive depth behind it. They refer to each row within this grid as a "pulse", and it generally serves as a single task in need of completion. Each column is then designated to a different stage in that task and assigned a person to oversee the task and change the contents of the cell as needed. Since each response is color coded, that makes it easy to get a pretty solid understanding of what's going on with a project through just a glance. That's a practical necessity, as each of these pulses can be stacked on top of one another to create a more big picture understanding of a project. Whether you're looking to understand all the stages of a single team's task or compress all your departments into a single visualization, the options are there. This high level of customization can be a double edged sword. Cells can be adjusted however you like, but finding the right methodology for your particular business can require some practice and finesse. To the left of your boards is a directory that allows you to sort pulses into folders, a great asset for larger teams and a meaningful way to create customized boards on the fly. Administrators have a great deal of control over sharing options, deciding who on their team has access to which pulses and which boards, and since Monday.com operates on the cloud, anyone with the proper access can reach and manipulate their accessible boards wherever they happen to be. Monday.com also offers the option to share your boards with people outside your company and make use of gannt charts to get a better understanding of your workflow timeline. Unfortunately, these are only available on the higher subscription tiers, but they will be generally more useful to larger teams. Monday.com also offers integrations with a number of different pieces of third party software. Particularly useful is the full functionality Monday.com offers with the Google cloud suite. These are handled through the use of proprietary APIs, and if you can't understand the code you need to install these APIs, support is included for Zapier.
Pros: Intuitive interface that's easy to pick up and learn Customization options only as limited as your imagination Supported by mobile apps
Cons: Expensive service for what's offered, particularly as you add more users No ability to create recurring tasks No internal calendar
